Spring at Emmanuel

Sundays

10:00am  —  Holy Eucharist in the Main Sanctuary with
Emmanuel Music and a Bach Cantata

10:00am  —  Godly Play for children 4–11 and
childcare for children under 4

12:00noon  —  Adult Education Forum

5:00pm  —  Sacred Space: Contemporary Worship with
Holy Eucharist (in the Lindsey Chapel)

Holy Eucharist at 10:00am: Each Sunday Emmanuel Music performs a Bach Cantata as well as sacred music selected from the works of Harbison, Schütz, Buxtehude, Byrd, Böhm, Mouton, Palestrina.

Sacred Space Worship at 5:00pm: We seek to invite participants into a fresh experience of God. We especially welcome those who are exploring spirituality or are looking for a nontraditional service. Musical offerings are provided by members of the community, and vary from jazz to Bach to beyond. Our prayers come from our own writings, from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, as well as from other texts. Our response to the Gospel takes the form of a sermon or a conversation.

Godly Play (Sunday School)
and Childcare

Godly Play, our beautifully offered and warmly received experience for children, invites children to enter into biblical stories, parables, and sacraments to help them find their own place in the life of the Christian community. Godly Play begins at 10:00am. We invite all children to experience Godly Play. Childcare for children under 4 is available beginning at 10:00am.

Adult Education: Worship, World, Word,
and Wonder

Our Adult Education program is structured as a monthly rotation among four conversations. Each Sunday’s Forum features one or more speakers, along with spirited audience participation. We hope you can attend.

Adult Education on the first Sunday of each month, “Worship Sunday,” invites us into a conversation about that Sunday morning’s liturgy. Adult Education on the second Sunday, “World Sunday,” focuses on contemporary social and political issues, both global and local.

Adult Education on the third Sunday of each month, “Word Sunday,” invites us into a conversation about issues of contemporary theology. Adult Education on the fourth Sunday of each month, “Wonder Sunday,” invites us to explore matters of the spirit and the arts.

Adult Education Forum meetings are held at 12:00noon in the Parish Hall.

Wednesdays

7:30am  —  Breakfast Bible Study in the Emmanuel Room

Bible Study at 7:30am: Bring your coffee and muffin to our lively Bible Study. Whether you like the practical “Who are the Samaritans, anyway?” or the irreverent “What were those disciples smoking?” you’ll feel right at home.
